What is Music Lab and what are the benefits?
Music Lab is an additional lesson time that allows a student to drill and follow up with what they are learning in their private lesson. Such basics as note names, intervals, chords, terms, symbols, key signatures, ear training, and much more is included. Each lesson is planned and structured just like a private lesson but students work independently with the computer, ipad or good old fashioned pen and paper. In addition to following up concepts being taught in their private lesson time it also provides a platform that students can use for exploration and creativity.
The addition of music lab time offers a more well-rounded music education experience which relates to our latest generation of musicians. Students get excited when we use modern technology with music and it improves and speeds up the learning process.
How does Music Lab work?
Music Lab lessons can be taken directly before or after a student’s private lesson time or students can book a time on another day if this is more suitable. Music Lab goes for 30 minutes although some younger students may find 20 minutes is enough for them to begin with. Students will have their tasks set in advance and will be required to provide feedback on what they have been doing during their music lab time.
Music Lab is generally suitable for students aged 6 to 16
